The Legacy Circle

About Us

The Legacy Circle is dedicated to empowering African Diaspora youth and adults in New York City through cultural arts education.  Our goal is to awaken young people and adults to their identity as African descendants and their legacy as leaders and Maroon Warriors. We were founded in 2006 by Manuela Arcineigas through a Social Justice Fellowship awarded to her by the Wagner School of Public Leadership.

Our Sacred Work

We collaborate with educators, artists, youth, adults, and anyone who is interested in honoring and celebrating their traditional culture as a means to empower others. As long as one person is learning and sharing our traditional culture, we will never die.

Who We Are

We are a diverse group of artists and educators representing the Caribbean, Africa, Latin America, and the World. We embrace our heritage as children of the Diaspora, and our traditional culture.

We are professors, musicians, teachers, mothers, high school students, elders, dancers, drummers, poets, natural healers, african priests, and the list keeps going and going....
