PRIMO DRUM CLASSES
in Afro-Puerto Rican BOMBA

Advance Registration and Payment Required. Limited enrollment available, by instructor approval only.
For intermediate level drum students only, Alma Moyo's director Alex LaSalle will host primo/subidor classes. This 4-part series will explore the following components of playing the subidor:
1) Language: What are the different primo language styles in each Bomba rhythm? Learn how to recognize the appropriate musical phrases and how they correspond to each rhythm.
2) Breaks: What are the signature breaks the primo leads during a performance?
3) Primo as Director: The primo player is responsible for directing the buleadores during the bomba performance. What are the appropriate ways to give and execute cues to your buleadores?
4) "Subir La Bomba:" The primo is an integral part of raising the feeling and intensity of the bomba. Learn the key techniques the primo player uses in order to raise the energy level of bomba and the appropriate times to use them.
This class is by RSVP only, and permission is required from the instructor. To register, you MUST PAY IN ADVANCE. You can pay by:
